Welcome to Peace Productions, Inc. Founded as an Illinois Not-For-Profit 501(c)3 Corporation in 1982, we are dedicated to making educational films, public service announcements and documentaries that speak to the injustices of the human condition.
Peace Productions is proud of its history of giving voice to those marginalized and victimized, with films decrying racism, nuclear proliferation, the death penalty and the war in Iraq among many others. Several of our films have been the recipient of the Midwest EMMY® Award and have aired on NBC and PBS locally and ABC nationally.
In our work-in-progress educational documentary, we return to the criminal justice system and explore a largely invisible population, incarcerated mothers and their children. Based on the book by noted social analyst and professor of criminal justice Renny Golden, War on the Family: Mothers in Prison and the Families They Leave Behind combines expert analyses from several fields with the painfully honest voices of women who are in various stages of the criminal justice system for non-violent drug offenses. This film is meant to resist crippling stigmas by presenting powerful narratives of hope and family bonds that refuse to be broken. More information can be found by clicking on "War on the Family."
