IF THE WORLD GOES AWAY WHERE WILL THE CHILDREN PLAY?
is an allegorical anti-war film featuring children from thirty-three countries
struggling to find peace in a world scarred by war and threatened by nuclear annihilation.

Narrated by James Earl Jones, the film presents a reading of THE CREATION by James Weldon Johnson coupled with an original score written and conducted by Martin Rubenstein and performed by members of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Original artwork was created by Hibakusha, survivors of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki atomic bombs. Additional music was provided by Pete Seeger and Cat Stevens.

A powerful metaphor for humanity’s struggle for peace, IF THE WORLD GOES AWAY WHERE WILL THE CHILDREN PLAY? reminds all of us that the forces of hatred, fear and inherent racism can be overcome by building trust, friendship and thus, a more peaceful world.
